Niðrstigningar saga: the Old Norse version of the Harrowing of Hell
The Gospel of Nicodemus is one of the most popular apocrypha in the middle ages. Here we find the episode about the Harrowing of Hell, which inspired literary and artistic works.
Dario Bullitta, assistant professor of Germanic Philology at the University of Turin, will present the Old Norse version of the text and shed new light on the fruitful cultural contacts between Iceland and the rest of Europe.
